Job description

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Analyst will :

  • Ensure the accurate and timely internal and external reporting of the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, the Royal Ottawa Volunteer Association, Frayme and Atlas financial results.
  • Provide support to the general ledger system.
  • Prepare, control and monitor all transactions related to month end accounting cycle
  • Analyze and reconciliations of income statements and balance sheets
  • Provide financial and non financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Participates in various committees, working groups and internal and external projects
  • Analyse balance sheet accounts, including the revision, reconciliation and the comprehension of all the transactions and resolve issues
  • Analyse income statement transactions
  • Responsible for the complete accounting cycle
  • Prepare complex adjusting entries and accruals in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, including co-ordination of information received from other sources.
  • Obtain information that will lead to proper accounting of operations or in order to present accurate financial reports
  • Completion of monthly, quarterly, ad hoc, and annual reports for external funders
  • Prepare various reports at the request of management
  • Implement new innovative practices and procedures with the team.
  • Submit government reports such as HST withholdings, capital reporting
  • Prepare the audit file and ensure the efficient conduct of the interim and annual audit
  • Completion and / or oversight over the annual audited financial statements for ROHCG organizations
  • Perform monthly analysis on transactions, balances for follow up with recipient.
  • Prepare high level variance analyses and comparative analyses concerning the monthly financial statements of the entities;
  • Participate in the analysis of special projects assigned upon request
  • Maintenance of the general ledger reports
  • Follow up to client, staff, internal and external inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Work with staff to improve processes and find efficiencies
  • Collaborate with staff both internal and external to the department in order to answer questions, review problematic accounting transactions and finding solutions in order to better present or account for the transactions
  • Works in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient / client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination-Free Workplace policy

Qualifications :

  • CPA Designation required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in computerize accounting environment
  • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrates initiative and recommends changes
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range : $40.85to $48.62 per hour
