You will drive the forecast and budget process and guide the organization in managing the capex portfolio in close collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the capital expenditure (Capex) planning process and providing financial insights and analysis to drive informed decision-making. You will play a meaningful role in evaluating investment opportunities, developing financial models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize our capital allocation strategy.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of the Capex controlling process. Collaborate with partners to gather project proposals, evaluate investment opportunities, and assess alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Assist in the preparation of the Capex budget and forecasts. Collaborate with finance teams and project managers to gather input, analyze historical data, and develop accurate financial projections.

  • Monitor and report on actual spending against approved budgets, identifying and explaining variances.

  • Engage with partners to gather project requirements, provide financial expertise, and ensure alignment between financial goals and operational objectives.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, project management, and senior executives.

  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making on capital projects.

  • Develop performance measurements and dashboards to monitor project outcomes, assess financial impact, and provide insights into the effectiveness of capital investments.

  • Build and maintain mechanisms to track and measure the return on investment for completed Capex projects.

  • Develop and implement standard processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in financial analysis and decision-making.

  • Find opportunities to streamline and improve the Capex controlling and evaluation processes.

Job requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Minimum 3-5 years in similar role or in accounting, audit

  • Fluent in English, French knowledge an asset

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting, with ability to interpret and manipulate large datasets

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools

  • Robust financial modelling skills, with the ability to develop complex financial models and perform sensitivity analysis

  • Solid understanding of financial concepts and investment appraisal techniques (e.g., DCF, NPV, IRR)

  • A reputation for being proactive, self-driven and resourceful person that can work well both independently and as part of a team

  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment while staying focused on the results. Stress resilient with no compromise on the details

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Considered as an asset:
  • Experience working for large corporations or Industrial companies

  • SAP usage has a strong advantage

  • Professional certification (CPA, CFA, or MBA)

  • Exposure to Capex planning and analysis.

  • IFRS knowledge
