Position Description

St. Francis Xavier University, a top-ranking Canadian university, is seeking a Financial Analyst to assist the Finance team with banking transactions processing and general accounting duties. Reporting to the Manager of Finance & Control, the Financial Analyst will prepare financial reports, process bank deposits, coordinate deposits from campus groups, record and upload journal entries, and prepare reconciliations. The Financial Analyst will serve as the central contact for deposit and credit card inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare journal entries from various sources, utilizing Excel or Access.
  • Coordinate credit card and campus deposit functions, ensuring process adherence.
  • Process campus deposits and prepare bank deposits for the university's primary bank account.
  • Review bank transactions, cancel cheques, and coordinate with stakeholders on unrecorded items.
  • Provide training on deposit requirements to campus stakeholders.
  • Perform reconciliations of secondary bank accounts, credit card clearing accounts, and other assigned accounts.
Qualifications
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant finance experience and education.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Excel (Office 365).
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and financial information systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including relationship building.
