Financial Analyst, Banking (12-month Contract)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Treasury Manager, the Financial Analyst, Banking contributes to the company’s success by being responsible for the overall administration of Definity Insurance Company’s (including its subsidiaries) banking requirements, which includes bank account coordination and reconciliation, supporting projects involving system implementation and M&A integration, supporting internal/external audit requirements, and collaborating with other teams to complete company objectives.

Teamwork and the willingness to take full ownership of an area of responsibility are essential as this includes assisting other Finance team members wherever possible, including situations where such assistance may not relate to the incumbent’s specific job accountabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reconciliation, Journal Entry, and Issue Resolution Support:

  • Assist in the timely and accurate review of bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are properly accounted for and documented.
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies or unusual items in reconciliations and journal entries to senior team members for further investigation.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of banking issues and failures, working with internal and external stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Financial System and Project Support:

  • Provide support for critical financial transactions, such as M&A funding, by preparing documentation, gathering data, and assisting with analysis.
  • Assist in gathering banking requirements for system-related projects, ensuring that banking needs are clearly defined and communicated to project teams.
  • Support the testing and implementation of new banking systems and processes, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Assist in resolving banking-related issues that arise during system implementations and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that banking systems are properly integrated with other financial systems.

Audit and Compliance Support:

  • Support the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits related to banking operations.
  • Respond to auditor inquiries in a timely and accurate manner, providing supporting documentation as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with internal controls and banking regulations.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of banking processes to identify potential compliance risks.

Banking Transformation Participation and Process Improvement:

  • Participate in banking transformation initiatives, such as process automation and Treasury Management System implementations, by assisting with data gathering, testing, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline banking processes, improving efficiency and reducing manual effort.
  • Assist in documenting existing banking processes and procedures, creating clear and concise documentation for training and reference purposes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new banking processes and procedures.

Other initiatives:

  • Provide support for M&A funding and integration.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of complex banking-related issues, such as fraudulent activity or significant reconciliation breaks, escalating to senior team members as needed.
  • Other ad hoc duties or tasks as required.

Technical Requirements:

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • The following designations (completed or in progress) are an advantage but not required: CPA, CBAP, CTP, PMP or similar
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in banking administration,
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)

Nice to haves:

  • Guidewire ClaimCenter - Experience with payment processing and data extraction.
  • Oracle ERP/GL - Familiarity with financial data and reporting.
  • Tableau/Cognos - Experience with data visualization and report generation.
  • Jira - Familiarity with project management and issue tracking.
  • Experience with other ERP, Claims Management, or Reporting systems.

Salary Range: $50,200 - $92,500
