Job summary

Seabird Island Band is seeking a Financial Analyst to support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting across programs. Reporting to the Comptroller, you will analyze financial data, prepare summaries, and coordinate year-end activities while collaborating with department leaders and auditors.

This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth. Term: Full-time, Permanent. Location: Seabird Island Band Office, Agassiz, BC. Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 - 4:30 pm. Salary: Starting from $37.51 an hour – Depending on skills and experiences.

About the Role

Join Sq'éwqel (Seabird Island Band) as a Financial Analyst and play a key role in supporting the financial health and sustainability of our organization. Reporting to the Comptroller, you will provide financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting support that helps drive informed decision-making across departments.

You are a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional with experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and full-cycle accounting. You enjoy working with data to solve problems, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making.

You thrive in collaborative environments, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and bring a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Experience working with Indigenous communities or a genuine interest in supporting First Nations organizations is considered a strong asset.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of progressive financial analysis experience.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and financial technologies.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation.
Assets
  • Experience working in a non-profit, public sector, or First Nations environment.
  • Experience supporting Indigenous communities through finance, accounting, or financial planning.

  • Understanding of culturally safe practices and Indigenous perspectives.
