Title: Financial Analyst

Department: Palliser Encore

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

DeFehr, selling wooden stools and tables, has evolved into a North American institution, offering custom upholstered furniture in nearly every category, and commercial movie theatre.

In 2014 Encore was born, launching our first recliner commercial movie theater recliner the Encore C1.

The C1 met the specific needs of theatres, including comfort, & ease of serviceability, quickly becoming an industry favorite and pushing Encore to become a market leader in Commercial Theater Seating

What Would You Do?

The Financial Analyst will manage cash flow and working capital, optimize cash utilization, and lead the account reconciliation process. This role will work closely with Finance, Customer Experience, and Procurement teams to maximize financial performance and protect company assets.

Primary duties and responsibilities of this position are outlined below:

Credit Analysis

  • Maintain customer accounts using AS400, MC2, and Powerlink systems.
  • Communicate new account approvals and account changes internally and externally.
  • Perform all invoicing activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Research and resolve account disputes and billing discrepancies.
  • Perform thorough account and payment reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Review and analyze financial information to assess credit risk.
  • Liaise regularly with customers and sales representatives to manage credit and collection issues, balancing asset protection with positive customer relationships.
  • Review delinquent accounts and prepare submissions for Collection Agencies.
  • Prepare detailed account reports as required.

Cash Flow and Working Capital Maximization

  • Understand payment cycles and develop accurate cash flow forecasts to maximize liquidity.
  • Develop and monitor financial Key Performance Indicators related to the business unit and the parent organization.
  • Create and present financial reports to the executive team, including past performance analysis and six-month forecasts.
  • Develop strategies and processes to optimize cash utilization and working capital.
  • Implement automation and practical processes to maintain account accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Finance department to align cash flow and credit strategies beneficial to both Encore and PFG.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance financial controls and reporting accuracy.
  • Support cross-functional teams with financial data and analysis to assist decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to financial transactions and reporting.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a financial analyst, credit, or similar finance role.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Infor, AS400, and Power BI.
  • CPA designation or progress towards CPA is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Macros and VBA) are an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
