Following their Series A funding, they are scaling rapidly and building a team of exceptional talent to drive their vision forward. Elective is backed by leading VCs like Rhino Ventures and Panache Ventures, and industry leaders like Greg Smith (CEO, Thinkific), Tim Vipond (Founder, Corporate Finance Institute), Andrew Wilkinson (Co-Founder, Tiny), Pat Flynn (Founder, Smart Passive Income), and others.

The Position

Elective is hiring a Financial Analyst to strengthen their lean and growing finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance & Risk, this role is responsible for financial reporting, operations, strategic analysis, and maintaining the corporate financial model.

This individual will take ownership of day-to-day accounting controls and processes across AR, AP, payroll, and loan sales; support the month-end close cycle and financial reporting; lead variance analysis and KPI tracking; and contribute to financial planning, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is analytical, adaptable, and energized by building in a high-growth, early-stage environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

  • Own daily accounting processes: AP/AR, payroll, taxes, and cash transfers
  • Lead the weekly loan sale and settlement process, reconciling loan cash flows and ensuring compliance with facility covenants
  • Support month-end close alongside the Controller, focusing on process automation and checklist standardization
  • Maintain cash balances and ensure timely fund disbursement and invoice payment
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement scalable improvements

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and distribute weekly/monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Conduct variance analysis between budget, forecast, and actuals
  • Maintain KPI dashboards and prepare investor and board reporting materials
  • Deliver data-driven insights to support cross-functional teams

Strategic Finance

  • Translate business goals into financial targets for revenue, margin, profitability, and cash flow
  • Maintain the corporate financial model and rolling forecast
  • Perform ad hoc financial and scenario analysis to support decision-making
  • Contribute to financial modeling and product-level analysis

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and investigative mindset
  • Operational ownership and accountability
  • Comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments
  • Strategic thinking and business awareness
  • Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator

Key Qualifications

  • Multi-year track record in accounting, finance, or analytical roles
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting fundamentals
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets (intermediate to advanced)
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Slack, Notion, and G Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Experience in startups, lending, or financial services is an asset

Location & Work Environment

This position is based in Vancouver, BC (2015 Main Street). It is a hybrid role with flexible hot desk access, and an expectation to transition to a full-time, in-person role within 12 months.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for a Financial Analyst is $65,000 to $90,000, and for a Senior Financial Analyst, it is $80,000 to $115,000, with a performance-based bonus included. This range reflects market benchmarks and accounts for varying levels of experience, from candidates growing into the role to those with an established track record. Compensation will be determined based on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.

Additional benefits include:

  • Laptop and equipment provided
  • Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Annual $1,000 learning and development stipend
