Job summary

A leading community builder in Canada is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments to provide accurate financial reports supporting senior management's decision-making processes. Ideal candidates will have a degree in finance or accounting and 2-3 years of relevant experience in real estate development, complemented by strong analytical skills and an expertise in Excel.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of work experience in finance or accounting functions.
  • Professional designations (e.g. CPA, CFA) or unique real estate experience considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proforma budgets for development projects including sensitivity analysis.
  • Conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis and prepare quarterly reporting.
  • Monitor and forecast cash flows for development projects.

Job description

Financial Analyst

Harbinger Network has partnered with an award-winning, family-owned community builder. They are looking to add a Financial Analyst to their team.

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Financial Analyst will coordinate closely with the land development, construction, sales and accounting teams to analyze and produce accurate and timely financial reporting to support the decision-making processes of senior management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proforma budgets for development projects in close coordination with the land development, construction, sales and accounting teams, including sensitivity analysis for various market conditions
  • Conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis for development projects on an ongoing basis and prepare quarterly reporting
  • Monitor and forecast cash flows for development projects and ensure sufficient and timely funding
  • Prepare financing packages for lenders and assist with the underwriting and closing of credit transactions
  • Coordinate with the accounting team in the preparation of monthly draw reports for lenders for development projects
  • Proactively and positively engage with external stakeholders including lenders and lawyers to maintain key relationships and advance financing transactions
  • Other ad hoc work and special projects, as maybe required time to time

Candidate Qualifications & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field
  • 2-3 years of work experience in finance or accounting functions, preferably within the real estate development industry
  • Professional designations (e.g. CPA or CFA) or unique real estate experience considered an asset
  • Preferred attributes: strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills, detail oriented and excels working in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of Excel
  • Experience in ERP construction software Newstar Enterprise considered an asset
