Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join as a Financial Analyst.

This role reports to the Financial Controller and is responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting OPG’s Enterprise Projects portfolio, and bringing comprehensive knowledge of financial systems, programs, and practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform detailed analysis of financial results, assess variances, and provide insights and recommendations.
2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and financial reports for major projects and accounts.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support operations and forecasting.
4. Provide management reports and perform ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.
5. Develop, recommend, and monitor adherence to financial strategies, policies, and procedures.
6. Review accounting practices for accuracy and consistency.
7. Participate in the development and support of financial information systems and procedures.
8. Stay informed on current accounting practices, GAAP, and industry trends, communicating impacts accordingly.

Qualifications

1. 4-year university degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, with progression towards or completion of CPA designation or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of 2 years' accounting or finance experience preferred.
3. Experience with financial analysis, controllership, and systems (SAP, Asset Suite, SAP BPC, PowerBI) is an asset.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
5. Strong judgment, decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
7. Results-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
8. Experience in regulated industries such as utilities, energy, or public sector is preferred.
