A property management company in Ottawa seeks a Financial Analyst to support financial planning and analysis. Purpose:
The Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting the organization’s financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions, with a focus on departmental budgeting, performance tracking, and operational decision-making. Working closely with cross-functional leaders across the business, this role will provide insights, identify trends, and support strategies to optimize performance. The Analyst will also contribute to forecasting, ad-hoc analysis, and may support REIT and partnership reporting as the business expands.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and maintain departmental and company-wide financial reports, including variance analysis, KPIs, and performance metrics.
• Partner with department leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing performance tracking, ensuring financial discipline and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Analyze variances and trends, highlight risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, including reconciliations, financial summaries, and performance reviews.
• Support cross-functional initiatives by providing financial insights into costs, investments, and efficiency opportunities.
• Conduct ad-hoc financial modeling and scenario analysis to guide decision-making.
• Contribute to REIT and limited partnership reporting as needed.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data within reporting systems.
Requirements:
• 4–6 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, or corporate finance.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling).
• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Proven ability to interpret financial data and translate it into actionable business insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial leaders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
Role Specific Requirements:
• Experience managing departmental budgets, variance analysis, and reporting in a corporate environment.
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional leaders at various levels.
• Comfortable balancing recurring reporting responsibilities with strategic, ad-hoc analysis requests.
• Exposure to real estate or property management finance considered an asset.
• Familiarity with REIT or partnership reporting is an asset but not required.
