About this Position
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance Department. The role involves various responsibilities related to expense monitoring, financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor expenses to ensure proper recording, support, and compliance with company policies and management directives.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals and adjusting journal entries.
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
- Generate monthly cost centre variance reports, support business explanations, and prepare reports for management.
- Compile quarterly expense management packages with variance analysis for board reporting and internal reviews.
- Coordinate the preparation of the annual expense budget, including collecting inputs, analyzing changes, and presenting to the executive team.
- Create monthly expense forecasts in collaboration with management, tracking all changes.
- Perform advanced financial analysis and expense modeling, including ratio and trend analysis.
- Review and update accrual models in collaboration with cost centre managers.
- Apply expense management policies and accounting treatments, including reviewing expense coding.
- Support cost centre leaders on expense-related matters.
- Develop and improve expense monitoring tools as part of ongoing process enhancements.
- Research, analyze, reconcile, investigate, and review routine and non-routine matters.
- Prepare and file Statistics Canada surveys and schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong initiative, project management, and follow-through abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Office, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Flexible team player capable of working independently.
- Experience with Workday Financial, Adaptive Planning, and Planful is an asset.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work overtime during month-end and budget periods.
