Job Description

MAJOR DUTIES:

The Intermediate Financial Analyst will have the opportunity to make a difference by using their skills and experience as a CPA to improve and challenge existing processes, remove waste, streamline, and initiate cost savings in a large growing division that is looking to set themselves up to scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ACCOUNTING

  • Responsible for Month end reporting activities: project register, intercompany reconciliations, other reporting requirements in OneStream software
  • Oversee all Building 3 inventory finance requirements: reconciliations, physical inventory counts and resulting financial analysis, inventory provisions
  • Reduce working capital by driving timely customer payments
  • Cash Forecasting
  • Managing & accounting for capital spending
  • Treasury forecasting, including managing hedges & determination of hedge settlement
  • Divisional annual tax package for Corporate Tax
  • Project work as required, mainly stream-lining and continuous improvement in nature
  • Month end account reconciliations, accruals & adjusting entries
  • Work with Finance team to achieve 1-day month end close target
  • Maintain accuracy of various Excel files such as Trial Balance, P&L
  • Prepare monthly EDC reporting
  • Various General accounting/Financial reporting/Cost accounting tasks as needed, including vacation coverage
  • Weekly management report on collections
  • Assist with internal and external audits. Preparing key information for external audit requirements.
  • Driving, and assisting with, continuous improvement initiatives
  • Creating and developing analytical Excel models
  • Assist with the preparation of forecasts and annual budgets
  • Analyzing and explaining variances between actuals, forecast and budget
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and SOX

INTERNAL CONTROL, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  • Maintaining the accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
  • Ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within the division, and that standards are applied consistently. Regularly review policies and procedures withManager, Financial Reporting & Compliance, to develop an ATS best practice approach for the financial management of the company.
  • Reviewing and assessing areas of business risk within the division, and, working with the Manager Financial Reporting & Compliance to develop policies to minimize or eliminate that risk where possible.
  • Ensuring the safeguarding of company assets.
Qualifications

Education:

Degree in Finance or Accounting. Ideally has CPA designation or enrolled in CPA program.

Experience & Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred) and Microsoft Outlook
  • Superior Excel skills: Pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, modelling, etc. Willing to learn VBA and comfortable navigating VBA modifications.
  • Ability to determine relevant information for the target audience to provide informational requirements in a meaningful manner.
  • Must be hands-on, detail-oriented, able to consistently meet deadlines, and can conduct in-depth financial analysis and present it in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management and problem-solving skills. Critical thinker.
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and customer-focused team player
  • Enjoys working in an exciting, fast-paced, results-driven environment with a big focus on streamlining
  • Must have a willingness to get their hands dirty and to resolve complex issues. Has a flair for identifying and resolving issues promptly.
  • Can work quickly and accurately
  • Independent and able to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented work environment
