Major duties

The Intermediate Financial Analyst will use their CPA experience to improve processes, reduce waste, streamline operations, and initiate cost savings in a large, growing division preparing to scale.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting and Accounting: Month-end reporting (project register, intercompany reconciliations, other requirements in OneStream).
  • Oversee Building 3 inventory finance requirements: reconciliations, physical counts, and related financial analysis and provisions.
  • Reduce working capital by driving timely customer payments.
  • Sales tax research, filing, reporting, and audits.
  • Cash forecasting and treasury activities, including capital spending and hedge management.
  • Foreign exchange analysis; divisional annual tax package for Corporate Tax.
  • Project work focused on continuous improvement; month-end reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
  • Aim for 1-day month-end close target; maintain accuracy of Excel files (Trial Balance, P&L).
  • Prepare monthly EDC reporting; assist with audits and key information for external audits.
  • Drive and assist continuous improvement initiatives; develop analytical Excel models.
  • Assist with forecasts and annual budgets; analyze variances (actuals, forecast, budget).
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and SOX; support Canada Statistics surveys.
Internal control, policies and procedures
  • Maintain timely, accurate accounting records; ensure policy adherence and consistency within the division.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance to develop ATS best practices for financial management.
  • Assess business risk and develop policies to minimize risk; safeguard company assets.
Qualifications
Education
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA designation or enrollment in CPA program preferred.
Experience & requirements
  • Effective communication at all levels, both verbal and written.
  • Minimum 5+ years accounting experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred) and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Superior Excel skills (Pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, modelling); willingness to learn VBA.
  • Ability to extract relevant information for target audiences and present clearly.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented; able to meet deadlines and conduct in-depth financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management and problem-solving skills; critical thinker.
  • Motivated, dependable, customer-focused team player; thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with an emphasis on streamlining.
