Job description

Helcim was founded with a mission at heart: to be the world’s most loved payment system. We believe that by offering small businesses in North America a decidedly human payment solution where it is easier to sign up and use while being transparent and affordable, we can empower them to grow and prosper.

From the very start, we knew that we wanted to be different from every payment processor out there. We want the merchants we serve to feel supported and see us as a trusted partner rather than simply just another “cost of doing business.” We are relentless in our pursuit to provide a radically transparent and honest payments solution that flat out saves business owners money, all while treating them like human beings.

The Position

Helcim is looking for a full-time Finance Analyst to join our team. This role is at the heart of our service, ensuring day-to-day payments to our merchants are consistent, reliable and scalable. You will be successful in this role if you love digging into the data and solving problems while being adaptable, proactive and eager to create processes for a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily reconciliation and settlement of merchant funding.
  • Work closely with the product, development, and operation teams to support new products, system improvements, and solve issues.
  • Assess current funding operations and controls, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes and policies.
  • Assist with month-end processes including merchant fee analysis and support quarterly project initiatives.
  • Analyze business data and build reporting to support decision making.
  • Support and develop finance data infrastructure.
  • Other duties as required
A Successful Candidate
  • You are a motivated, proactive individual who thrives in the dynamic, unstructured environment of a scale-up.
  • You are curious and like to think critically through problems not only trying to solve the immediate issue but the underlying, longer term ones as well.
  • You are not afraid to manage multiple deliverables and if needed, are eager to help others to meet overall team deadlines.
  • You are analytical and detail oriented, with a strong grasp of financial principles and are comfortable digging through and making sense of large amounts of data to find a solution.
  • You are equally comfortable working independently and collaborating with a team.
  • You are an early riser as the processing and settlement of funds occurs primarily in the morning.

We know that candidates have different experiences that may make them a great fit for this position and for Helcim. We believe that diversity and having an inclusive culture is not only the right thing, but key to our long-term success.

Key Competencies
  • A business, or related, degree is required
  • 2-3 years of related experience, experience in Treasury or financial systems is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets is required. Basic proficiency in SQL and/or Apps Script is preferred.
  • Strong time-management skills and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinker and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, combined with interpersonal skills.
Helcim Culture

We are builders, we choose the harder path, we create trust, and we contribute to a company of many.
