We develop hotels and accommodation for Basecamp Properties in the mountain communities. We are also a portfolio with a mix of residential and commercial developments for sale which comes into the Big Moose Realty department.

Position Overview
We are looking for a Financial Analyst that will play a pivotal role in conducting investment analysis related to ongoing and proposed real estate developments within hospitality-focused markets. The Analyst role will primarily focus on conducting due diligence aimed at evaluating new opportunities, maintaining financial models and projections of existing investments, and assisting internal teams with the preparation of investment materials.
Salary : $80,000 - $87,000 (depending on experience)
Additions : health benefits and cell phone allowance
Shifts : Full-time, Permanent
Location : Canmore or Calgary (please note that Calgary candidates will be expected to travel to our Canmore office at least twice weekly at an agreed upon schedule)
Key Responsibilities:
- Research
- Gather data from internal and external sources to develop financial models and forecast projected investment returns.
- Conduct market research to monitor and evaluate hospitality-focused real estate markets.
- Stay informed on construction, real estate, and hospitality trends.
- Monitor fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments through the analysis of information obtained from financial publications and services, investment firms, government agencies, trade publications, and company sources.
- Collect, evaluate, and apply financial, economic, and/or operational data to analyze and evaluate investment opportunities and the profitability of potential new projects.
- Provide insight and guidance on information technology solutions related to the analyst role.
- Develop and maintain internal reports related to the markets within which Basecamp operates.
- Financial Analysis and Modelling
- Create financial models to evaluate potential new developments or investment opportunities, as well as to monitor existing operating properties.
- Collect, aggregate, and evaluate project information to assist in budgeting and pro-forma financial modelling.
- Perform special projects/analysis for the Director of Finance, including creating summaries of analysis and presenting findings and recommendations succinctly.
- Develop and document processes, while incorporating Budget & Finance best practices.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis as necessary.
- Collate due diligence audit packages to support information included in investor materials.
- Support internal teams in areas outside of financial analysis, such as due diligence process, market research, and business development.
- Assist with acquisition due diligence, including review of contracts, preparing budgets, and conducting financial modelling and reviews.
- Work closely with Construction, Development, Business Development, Marketing, and Accounting departments to perform ongoing reconciliation and model adjustments of projects under development.
- Assist Business Development department with compiling investor presentation materials, including engaging with the team or responding to questions from investors.
- Assist Investor Relations department with compiling quarterly reporting materials and associated data validation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Finance.
- 3-5 years of experience in a Financial Analyst, Banking, Trading, or Investment Management role.
- A CFA designation is considered an asset.
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel, especially pertaining to financial modelling.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Great problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently when needed.
- Experience in real estate and development is considered an asset.
- Dynamic, growth-oriented, and capable of working under pressure.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
