Job summary

The Municipality of the County of Annapolis in Nova Scotia is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This role supports monthly bank reconciliations, capital projects, asset management, and financial reporting in a municipal government setting.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will maintain financial software, assist with internal controls and policy development, explain complex matters to staff, and help prepare public presentations.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • CPA designation preferred or working towards designation.

The County of Annapolis is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team! Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for monthly bank reconciliations, capital projects, asset management, providing assistance with internal controls and policy development, financial reporting, the maintenance of financial software, and other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications And Expectations
  • Education: Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree in commerce, accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Designation: Candidates with a CPA designation or working towards their designation would be preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience, with preference give to those working within a municipal government organization.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of municipal finance and accounting, including Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
  • Requirements: Candidates must obtain a criminal records check to work for the Municipality of the County of Annapolis. This position will occasionally require work outside of normal office hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Financial Analysis Acumen: Exceptional financial analytical and report writing skills. Strong ability to understand complex financial matters.
  • Communication: Ability to explain complex financial matters to various personnel and facilitate public presentations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Fluency with the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to understand and utilize financial software.
Salary & Benefits

Rate of Pay: Pay Band 6 $78,454.16 - $98,873.73
