Job summary

Aplin is partnering with a public sector Calgary organization to recruit a Financial Analyst for a 6-month contract. This hands-on role supports financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts receivable, and month-end activities in a small finance team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting, financial reporting or financial analysis experience.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business or related field.
• Strong general accounting knowledge with GL, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Experience with accounts receivable and invoicing.
• Strong Excel and Office skills.
• Microsoft Business Central experience is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of GAAP and PSAB is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reporting.
• Complete general ledger entries, reconciliations, and account corrections.
• Prepare bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting activities.
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and variance reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and account adjustments.
• Support full-cycle accounts receivable including invoicing, payments and reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies and follow through on adjustments.
• Coordinate payments, fund transfers, and other finance-related transactions.
• Support year-end audit working papers and financial schedules.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders on financial matters.

Job description

We’re partnering with a public sector Calgary organization to recruit a Financial Analyst for a 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative finance team and will support a mix of financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts receivable, month-end activities, and day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate can step into a busy environment, work independently, has excellent communication skills and can get up to speed quickly.

This position isremote; however, candidates must be located in Calgary or the surrounding area, as occasional visits to local locations willbe required.
Start date is ASAP.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reporting.
• Complete general ledger entries, reconciliations, and account corrections.
• Prepare bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.

• Assist with ad hoc reporting, process documentation, and finance projects as required.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of directly related accounting, financial reporting or financial analysis experience.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business or a related field; equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
• Strong general accounting knowledge with experience working with the GL, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Experience with accounts receivable and invoicing.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Microsoft Business Central experience is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of GAAP and/or PSAB is an asset.
