Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mutual Funds License required; PFP is an asset.
• Must complete internal Tru Cooperative certification program for this role within the required timeframe.
• 2 years in a Member Advisor role, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to identify member needs and recommend products and services.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional member service and identify financial needs or refer to the appropriate advisor.
• Process a wide range of member transactions including loans, mortgages, RRSPs, accounts, cards, LOC/overdraft, and related insurance products.
• Support branch goals and participate in campaigns, proactively cross-sell and refer opportunities.
• Perform administrative duties such as loan applications, estates administration, and follow-up calls.
• Prioritize and manage schedules to ensure a remarkable member experience across the branch.

Job description

We are currently seeking aFinancial Advisor (Trainee)to join our team.

The Financial Advisor (Trainee) provides exceptional customer service to current and potential members by offering a full range of deposit/investments and complex lending services. This role identifies member life stage cycle and provides solutions to financial needs, and/or refers member to an appropriate advisor. The Financial Advisor (Trainee) manages a portfolio of members.

Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day

1. Member Service: Builds strong relationships with current and potential members; identifies member life stage cycle and provides financial advice to members or refers to appropriate advisor.
2. Member Transactions: Processes a full range of complex member transactions including, but not limited to personal loans, retail mortgages and RRSP loans; investment products (typically under $100K in investible assets); opening personal or business accounts, debit/credit cards, LOC/overdraft protection, and related insurance products.
3. Branch Goals: Supports achievement of annual branch goals and objectives through proactive promotion of Tru Cooperative Bank products and services, participation in branch campaigns, and actively seeks potential cross-sell and/or referral opportunities during interaction with members or potential members. Achieves established annual sales and referral targets.
4. Branch Support: Performs a variety of administrative duties which may include, but not limited to: administration of estates, completion of loan applications, conducting credit investigations, and follow-up phone calls to members, as required.

5. Other duties as required by branch leadership. Utilizes the Day in the Life as a guideline to prioritize and manage schedules - to align efforts in reaching goals while offering a remarkable, consistent member experience across Tru Cooperative.

Branch Differentiation: Based on the needs of the members and individual circumstances, the following may apply:

1. Lending limits will be assigned in consultation with credit services, based on experience and competency
2. In pilot locations, a key accountability is to build/maintain a strong presence and relationship in the community

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• College or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Mutual Funds License required; PFP is an asset
• Must complete the internal Tru Cooperative certification program specific to this role within the required timeframe
• 2 years in a Member Advisor role, or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to identify needs and recommend products and services to members
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and solve problems using common sense and sound judgment
• Proven ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload
• Proficient in computer software e.g. Microsoft Office and banking software programs
• Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
