Job summary

Brunswick Credit Union is seeking a Financial Advisor to support branch growth by proactively selling products and delivering member advice. The role includes lending, deposits, and account openings, with hybrid work and two onsite days per week at the Rexton Branch.

You will build member relationships, advise on lending, investments, and referrals, while ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration.
  • 2–5 years of experience in complex lending and deposit services.
  • Strong knowledge of lending practices and investment products.
  • Knowledge of policies and regulatory environment.

Job description

The Financial Advisor contributes to branch growth by proactively selling credit union products and fostering business development through referrals and the delivery of our member advice experience. The role also provides lending, deposit and account opening services to current and prospective members, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

Work Location: This position follows a hybrid work arrangement and requires a minimum of two (2) days per week onsite at the Rexton Branch. The remainder of the workweek may be worked remotely from the Riverview Branch, subject to operational requirements.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

1. Sales, Service and Growth
  • Drives sales growth by identifying member needs, promoting products, and providing tailored financial advice across lending, investment, and deposit services.
  • Conducts lending interviews, assesses creditworthiness, structures loans and mortgages, and ensures timely, compliant disbursement of funds
  • Promotes products and services through in-branch interactions, outreach, and participation in sales and marketing campaigns
  • Supports branch sales growth by analyzing member needs, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and referring complex cases to specialists.
  • Supports business development through proactive member outreach, participation in marketing campaigns, and strong community and industry engagement.
  • Builds strong member relationships through proactive advice and needs-based conversations, identifying opportunities for lending, investments, deposits and referrals.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to enhance the member experience and identify improvements in service delivery and financial solutions
2. Risk Management and Compliance
  • Monitors overdraft activity and enforces account limits to minimize financial risk and losses.
  • Reviews and adheres to risk management policies and security procedures, including privacy, robbery, money laundering, and branch safety.
  • Shares credit information with other institutions in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Stays updated on relevant regulatory, industry, investment, and lending guidelines

The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration

plus 2-5 year industry experience in complex lending and deposit services including:

  • Advanced knowledge of lending practices and financial principles
  • Advanced knowledge of lending and investment products and services
  • Advanced knowledge of policies and regulatory environment
  • Advanced communication skills (oral, written)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Proficient in reading financial statements
  • Proficient in relationship building skills
  • Proficient critical thinking, ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment
  • Proficient in using attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of sales, promotion and referrals

This position offers a salary range of $57,800 - $68,000.
