Job summary

The Salvation Army in Toronto is seeking a Financial Accountant to maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations, and prepare major journal entries for ministry units. Qualifications

• Completion of a university degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• CPA designation or progress toward completion is considered an asset.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in an accounting/finance environment.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, INDIRECT, TRIM, LEFT, RIGHT, MID, SUBSTITUTE, IF formulas).
• Strong communication and analytical abilities in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and sub-ledgers through reconciliations and controls.
• Prepare analyses, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and other entries for accurate reporting.
• Monitor ministry unit financial health via statements, cash flow, and budgets; escalate risks.
• Manage banking activities, including reconciliations and fund transfers.
• Support month-end and year-end processes and provide guidance to stakeholders.
