Our client in Toronto, ON is currently seeking a Bilingual Financial Accountant (English / Mandarin) to join their growing team. This role reports directly to the Controller and is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong grasp of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting in a manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

As a Financial Accountant , you will be responsible for executing and supporting key accounting functions including billing, month-end close, reconciliations, inventory analysis, audit preparation, budgeting, and compliance. Your bilingual skills will be critical in coordinating with internal teams and related companies, especially where Mandarin communication is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting including customer billing, vendor invoicing, accruals, adjusting entries, and reconciliations.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, fixed asset continuity schedules, and bank reconciliations.
  • Handle month-end foreign currency revaluation processes.
  • Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers with the general ledger; analyze inventory valuation and PPV, and investigate irregularities.
  • Monitor inventory aging and collaborate with sales teams on obsolete inventory follow-up.
  • Review and resolve discrepancies in inter-company transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management reporting packages.
  • Conduct variance analysis against historical data and budget targets.
  • Support year-end closing and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Prepare and submit HST / GST filings and remittances.
  • Collaborate on corporate tax filing preparations with external consultants.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and financial projections based on actuals and business assumptions.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset, but not mandatory.
  • 3–5 years of experience in general accounting roles.
  • SAP experience is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing and product costing is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin – strong written and verbal skills in both languages are required.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
