Position

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Site Controller, this position will be based in the Edmonton Office, AB.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting;
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain accuracy and compliance;
• Create, maintain and improve monthly accounting working papers to support month-end activities;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures;
• Oversee the preparation and submission of tax filings for GST and Fuel Tax;
• Maintain records of all fixed assets & projects including assets under construction, WIP balances, sustaining capital, acquisitions, transfers, disposals and systematic maintenance of assets within SAP;
• Ensure accurate valuation of fixed assets, considering factors such as depreciation, impairments, and revaluations;
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting-oriented duties with minimal direction; and
• Prepare schedules and analysis for audit, including coordination with internal and external auditors.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Three (3) years’ of professional accounting experience in natural resource or construction industry;
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance;
• A Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation is an asset;
• Working knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements for public companies in a SOX environment;
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, including advanced formulization, pivot tables and analytical tools; and
• Experience working in ERP systems, experience with SAP S/4 HANA considered an asset.
