Job summary

Northland Properties Corporation invites a Senior Accountant to join the Restaurant Accounting Team at the Vancouver Support Centre. You will lead full-cycle accounting for Shark Club, Tavern and Signature Restaurant brands, ensuring accurate monthly closes and timely reporting to the Controller.

This role requires a CPA or equivalent, a solid GAAP background, and strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with operations and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join our Restaurant Accounting Team, working with our Shark Club, Tavern & Signature Restaurant brands. This position will report to the Controller, Restaurant Division.

Responsibilities

• Lead full cycle accounting responsibilities ensuring accurate and timely results are provided to the business
• Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and various other reports
• Liaise with operations management on accounting issues
• Responsible for complex balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and calculate regular tax filings (GST, PST, LST, Sales & Use Tax)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, prioritizing automation where possible.
• Build great working relationships with the business to promote synergies
• Support the annual external financial statement audits and tax filing requirements
• Perform other accounting duties as required

Role Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
• CPA designation, or equivalent
• Experience in full-cycle accounting role with a strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Strong financial analysis skills and independent problem-solving
• Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within established deadlines and time constraints
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to have fun and be a great team player
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel and ERP systems (Experience with Microsoft D365 Finance & Operations, Power BI & Planful would be considered an asset)
• Hospitality experience would be considered as an asset
