Job summary

The Town of Gibsons is seeking a strategic Manager of Financial Services to lead our financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and deliver accurate reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will guide a professional team and drive budgeting, year-end audits, and compliance across departments.

Ideal candidates will have CPA-related study, substantial local government accounting experience, and strong people leadership.

Qualifications

• Significant post-secondary accounting studies or advanced standing in the CPA program.
• At least three years of directly related local government experience including senior-level accounting experience.
• Experience supervising staff and managing financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of financial professionals and provide direction and development.
• Oversee accounting, payroll, property taxation, financial reporting, grant compliance, and year-end audit prep.
• Drive process improvements and strengthen financial systems.
• Contribute to budgeting and financial planning in collaboration with leadership.
