The Role
Pacific Life Re (“PL Re”) requires exemplary quality and practices throughout the organization. Following extensive global expansion and a drive to standardize systems and platforms, PL Re is undertaking a large-scale back-office transformation program. This program aims to deliver a unified future state vision across all back-office functions globally.
We are seeking a Senior Finance Business Analyst to support the definition and delivery of Finance projects within FP&A and Financial Reporting as part of this wider program.
The program involves multiple transformation projects across the back-office, focusing on process improvement, redesign, and change management. The team will work closely with back-office leaders, technology teams, and subject matter experts to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
The role involves building strong relationships, understanding complex business needs, and ensuring clear documentation and communication of requirements. The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring business needs are accurately captured, communicated, and validated.
Duties
- Identify, understand, and validate business needs from a user perspective, including local and global requirements.
- Develop and manage functional and non-functional requirements, supporting acceptance criteria collation.
- Write clear, relevant user stories and requirements.
- Define acceptance criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Review and optimize current business processes and identify efficiency opportunities.
- Maintain a technology-agnostic approach when matching requirements to solutions.
- Lead the process from requirements gathering to solution implementation.
- Coordinate activities within the Business Analyst community.
- Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and solution providers.
- Build relationships with stakeholders and technology teams.
- Prioritize business needs and balance tactical and strategic objectives.
- Ensure user experience is intuitive and efficient.
- Align outcomes with business strategy and advocate for continuous improvement.
- Create traceability matrices linking requirements to technical designs.
- Update process and technology documentation as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience as a Senior Business Analyst in Finance transformation.
- Experience with ERP implementations (e.g., Oracle) and Finance projects.
- Strong communication skills with senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in analyzing and documenting business requirements.
- Experience with process assessment and requirements traceability.
- Ability to identify process improvements.
- Knowledge of systems like Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, SQL is advantageous.
- Understanding of finance industry practices.
- Workshop facilitation skills.
- Familiarity with agile and waterfall delivery models.
