POSITION: FINANCE OFFICER

SALARY: FROM $47,886 TO $79,426 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

LOCATION: MONTREAL

DURATION: FROM JUNE TO SEPTEMBER 2025, WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the general direction of the Coordinator of the Financial Resources department, the Finance Officer’s responsibilities include partaking in the school board’s financial activities and assisting the various organization units with financial management, particularly in the areas of budgetary control, accounting, reporting, and financial statements.

• Prepare the reports on the budget, control of expenditures, estimates, and other subjects as needed;

• Collaborate in the preparation and production of financial statements and analyze such financial statements;

• Establish procedures for the implementation of policies and directives issued by upper management;

• Generate accounting entries and supervise their recording, verify that accounting operations comply with standards, ensure verification of accounts payable and accounts receivable, and take action when necessary;

• Design and develop work, planning, and budgetary control tools for the employees concerned and facilitate information sessions;

• Recommend policy changes for financial management services;

• Engage in the functional coordination of certain tasks;

• Assist employees in solving complex administrative or technical problems;

• The Finance Officer may be asked to participate in developing and updating certain computer programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Undergraduate degree (terminal) in an appropriate field of specialization, notably accounting or business administration.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned qualifications if a suitable candidate is found who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who agrees, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Preferably 3 to 5 years of relevant experience;

• Good command of two of the Kativik School Board’s three working languages (Inuktitut, French, English);

• Analytical skills;

• Ability to maintain good business relations with stakeholders at various levels.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2118: from $47,886 to $79,426 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
