Job summary

Yukon Hospital in Whitehorse, YT is seeking a Manager of Accounting Services for a Regular Full Time role. The position oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management and internal controls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

The successful candidate will lead staff, coordinate audits, and maintain strong controls while communicating complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Several years of progressive accounting or financial operations experience.
• Management or supervisory experience, including staff development.
• CPA designation or in process of obtaining CPA designation is asset.
• Familiarity with hospital or institutional environments desired.
• Experience with CIHI accounting guidelines and financial information systems (e.g., MEDITECH) desired.

Responsibilities

• Oversee integrity and effectiveness of accounting operations across the organization.
• Coordinate financial reporting, reconciliations, general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable legislation, regulations and organizational requirements.
• Lead and develop staff; coordinate audits and internal controls.
• Manage cash flow, internal controls and financial stewardship.
• Communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
