Job description

Senior Financial and Operational Specialist

We turn fashion into technical apparel for an active lifestyle, because we believe life should be simpler and you should be able to do everything you do in a day without having to change your clothes. Inspired by the modern, active individual, we've created a clothing line for men and women that maximizes performance without sacrificing style. From denim that you can cycle in, to pants that eliminate sweat, DUER enables you to do everything you do in a day - in style.

We are looking for a highly motivated Finance Manager to lead the charge in building a world-class finance function at DUER. As a key member of our growing team, you'll take full ownership of accounting, reporting, compliance, and risk management — while supporting strategic planning and decision-making. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape and scale the finance function of a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and rapidly growing brand.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Accounting and Financial Reporting
  2. o Oversee all accounting functions and ensure accurate, timely consolidation of financial data.

o Lead monthly and year-end closing processes, including full financial statements and management reporting packages.

o Own the annual audit / review process and ensure smooth execution.

o Research and resolve complex accounting issues in accordance with IFRS.

o Analyze actual vs. budget variances, provide insights, and recommend action plans.

o Support the development of a clean and scalable data architecture for better decision-making.

o Evaluate and optimize the accounting tech stack (GL systems, BI tools, databases).

o Assist in the annual budgets and periodic forecasts process.

o Manage KPI tracking and scorecard reporting across finance.

o Leverage Excel, BI tools, and AI platforms to drive reporting efficiency.

  1. Accounts Receivable Management
  2. o Oversee credit release and collection processes to mitigate credit risks.

o Monitor and report on AR KPIs.

o Support strategy development for challenging accounts.

  1. Accounts Payable Management
  2. o Manage the weekly AP cycle and aging reports.

o Optimize payment terms and vendor relationships for recurring spend.

  1. Tax Reporting and Compliance
  2. o Lead year-end tax filings across jurisdictions (Canada & U.S.).

o Determine monthly tax provisions and ensure accurate reconciliations.

o Handle complex tax issues and ensure compliance with federal/provincial/state requirements.

o Oversee multi-jurisdictional sales tax filings and registration requirements.

o Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls for key financial risks.

o Document and enforce SOPs for major finance and operational processes.

o Safeguard company assets through proactive monitoring and governance.

  1. Team Leadership and Operational Excellence
  2. o Hire, develop, and retain high-performing finance staff.

o Maintain well-organized financial and legal records (contracts, agreements, filings).

o Take on special projects and other duties as assigned.
