Position Summary

We’re seeking a highly detail-oriented and execution-driven Finance Manager to manage the day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-growing automotive startup. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on being in the weeds — reconciling numbers, managing accounting systems, supporting junior team members, and collaborating closely with the Head of Finance on all core financial tasks. You’ll be the go-to person for maintaining financial records and discipline as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Accounting Operations

  • Oversee daily accounting functions including journal entries, bank and credit card reconciliations, and account clean-up.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure accuracy in transactional postings.
  • Maintain and organize all supporting documentation for audit readiness and compliance.

Accounts Payable / Receivable

  • Oversee invoice processing, vendor payments, and payment schedules.
  • Ensure timely customer invoicing, follow-up on receivables, and maintain AR aging reports.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and handle discrepancies directly with vendors.
  • Inventory & Cost Accounting

  • Get hands-on with inventory tracking, cycle counts, and reconciliation of materials and WIP.
  • Monitor product costs and ensure accurate COGS accounting in the ERP system.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure BOMs and costing inputs are consistently updated and accurate.
  • Close Process & Reporting

  • Own the month-end close process : prepare adjusting entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Deliver timely monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash reports with commentary on any issues.
  • Support the Head of Finance in preparing ad hoc reporting packages and internal audits.
  • Staff Management & Collaboration

  • Supervise and support junior accounting or finance staff; review daily work and provide training on best practices.
  • Act as the right hand to the Head of Finance in executing tasks and identifying process improvements.
  • Assist with onboarding new finance team members as the company scales.
  • Systems & Process Hygiene

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting system configurations in the company’s ERP.
  • Assist in ERP data migrations, cleanup efforts, and automation projects.
  • Enforce internal controls and consistent documentation practices.
  • Qualifications

    Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally with at least 1–2 years in a startup or automotive environment.
  • Deep familiarity with day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, and close processes.
  • Experience with inventory-heavy businesses and cost accounting.
  • Comfortable managing or mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong Excel skills and fluency with modern accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or equivalents).
  • Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in an early-stage or venture-backed startup.
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks Online, Stripe, Hubspot, and comfortable learning new software systems.
  • Previous exposure to automotive, EV, or hardware businesses.
  • Experience managing capital assets — including tracking acquisitions, depreciation schedules, and asset disposals.
