Summary :
The Manager, Finance & Reporting will deliver accurate and timely financial information and own the monthly and quarterly accounting close and reporting processes for a large subsidiary of the FIKA Company. The ideal candidate will ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information in supporting our accounting close and internal reporting process, while also working constructively with operational leaders to address challenges and opportunities in the business. Supported by other members of the finance team, the incumbent is responsible for preparing and managing financial and segment profitability reporting and leads the preparation of monthly management reporting and other reporting documents.

Responsibilities
- Lead operations accounting, monthly close and financial reporting process, including management analysis.
- Oversee execution & review of financial controls, including daily / monthly reconciliation.
- Adhere to month end, quarter end and reporting deadlines – the company’s month end close and sign-off target is by 10 calendar days post fiscal month end.
- Direct day-to-day oversight of staff accounting team and review working papers produced by staff accounting team.
- Produce weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly management reports of budget to actual results, monthly variance analysis, and reporting on other KPIs as required by the FP&A / operations team and for external reporting purposes;
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliation
- Participate in the establishment and maintenance of the organization's accounting policies (under ASPE), principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives;
- Manage the acquisition and accounting of capital assets and ensure that they are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate in accordance with the applicable standards;
- Assist in the continuous improvement and add-ons for the financial ERP system;
- Support the preparation of consolidation working papers, and support requests for external financial statements and other public facing financials;
- Manage the onboarding of new stores for accounting and reporting purposes;
- Adjust general ledger balances by posting and / or adjusting journal entries, and prepare monthly working papers;
- Identify, investigate, analyze and report on account variances;
- Maintain general ledger balance sheet accounts by reconciling accounts details and control accounts;
- Review and approve AP coding of invoices and ensure coding is appropriately recorded in General ledger accounts, store and department cost centres.
- Ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations and tax laws including timely filing of related tax returns (i.e. HST, tax returns, cannabis regulatory reporting as required);
- Such other duties and functions as the Company may assign to the Employee from time to time;
Qualifications
- Accredited accounting designation strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of retail accounting and reporting experience in a supervisory capacity; public accounting firm experience is a plus.
- Experience in department and store cost centre level accounting and reporting.
- Knowledge of internal controls and best practices is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to liaise with key stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards is an asset.
- MS Excel proficient — pivots, VLOOKUPs and formulas.
- Proficient and familiar with big data queries extracted from ERP for reporting.
- Experience with Microsoft D365 ERP systems is an asset.
