Job summary

Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care in Kenora, Ontario, is seeking a Finance Manager to join the Administration Team. The role reports to the Executive Director and oversees financial strategy, budgeting, reporting, payroll, and compliance with long-term care regulations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration.
  • Knowledge of financial management, payroll, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in Adagio, PayDirt, and Microsoft 360.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of regulations governing not-for-profit organizations.
  • Knowledge of Ojibway culture is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with departments to develop financial strategies aligned with the Home’s mission.
  • Prepare annual budget and monitor monthly financial reports for variances.
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Long-Term Care reporting requirements.
  • Perform monthly adjustments and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial reports for funders, Program Managers and Board of Directors.
  • Prepare spreadsheets for reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee payroll cycle functions.
  • Maintain resident trust accounts and records for fundraising activities.
  • Review disbursements against approved budgets and maintain confidentiality.

Job description

Salary: $85,000-$102,500, based on qualifications, experience, and relevant skills

Term: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Position Summary:

The Finance Manager will work under the direction of the Executive Director and is part of the Administration Team at Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care.

Overview of Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with departments and programs to develop and implement financial strategies that supports the Home’s mission
  • Prepare annual budget and monitor monthly financial reports for variances
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Long-Term Care reporting requirements
  • Perform monthly adjustments and bank reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Prepare financial reports for funders, Program Managers and Board of Directors
  • Preparation of various spreadsheets for reporting and analysis
  • Full function of the payroll cycle
  • Maintain resident trust accounts, including receipts and disbursements
  • Maintain books and records for fundraising events and charitable activities
  • Review disbursements, ensuring they are in accordance with approved budgets
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Degree in business administration
  • Knowledge of financial management and general accounting principles, payroll management and budgetary planning, development and monitoring
  • Proficiency in Adagio accounting software, PayDirt payroll, and Microsoft 360 programs
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of not-for-profit accounting practices and procedures
  • Understanding of Ojibway culture is a definite asset.
Conditions of Employment

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to commencing employment
  • Provide satisfactory 2-step Tuberculosis (TB) screening/testing in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and organizational policy
  • Successfully complete all mandatory orientation and SurgeLearning requirements within the timelines established by Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Must be willing to travel when required
  • Meet all other pre-employment and ongoing employment requirements as determined by Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care
