Job description

Finance Manager

The Finance Manager is responsible for leading the financial reporting, planning, control, and operational coordination of a dynamic, project-based organization. This role is both strategic and hands-on—owning core accounting functions while partnering closely with operations and leadership to drive financial performance and organizational scalability.

The position is designed to grow into broader organizational leadership, including support and oversight of HR, IT, and administrative functions, with a long-term growth path toward Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

What You Will Be Doing
  • Prepare financial statements, interim reports, and consolidated financial packages.
  • Lead annual budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze project costs, risks, and performance trends; present insights to senior leadership.
  • Ensure effective cost controls and financial governance for direct and indirect project expenses.
  • Manage cash flow, banking transactions, treasury operations, and creditor payments.
  • Support tax planning, procurement decisions, purchasing strategies, and subcontracting evaluations.
  • Manage the payroll process with Third Party provider.
  • Manage the financial aspects related to project cost and profitability, approvals and associated reporting.
  • Manage insurance needs, guarantees, and other financial compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical, operations, environmental, and administrative teams to support contract and project management.
  • Oversee documentation and reporting for corporate entities, partnerships, and joint ventures.
  • Lead financial and administrative project close-out activities.
  • Take a hands-on leadership approach in supervising the accounting and administration team, providing daily guidance, support, and escalation management.
  • Provide ongoing training, development, and mentorship to team members to elevate performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and participate in special projects such as system conversions, upgrades, and new system implementations with a hands-on execution mindset.
  • Contribute to operations systems, HR processes, and IT program alignment as the role expands.
This Role Is Designed for Growth

As the organization evolves, this position offers the opportunity to:

  • Take on broader operational responsibilities across multiple functions.
  • Expand your leadership scope into HR, including workforce planning, people processes, and organizational development.
  • Support strategic oversight of IT systems, data integrity, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Progress into senior financial leadership, with a clear upward pathway toward a future CFO role for high-performing candidates.
What We’re Looking For

  • Advanced Excel skills; PowerPoint proficiency is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, HR, third party service providers, clients and senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or project-driven industries is an asset.
