Finance Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to join us as Finance Manager to oversee general accounting functions, regular financial reporting and gift processing.This role will ensure that the Foundation complies with regulations and accounting standards while demonstrating our commitment to transparency and integrity.

  • The hiring range for this role is $67,000 - $80,000
  • This is a regular full-time position, based on 37.5 hours of work per week.
  • Opportunity for hybrid work, such as one to two days remote working following an initial orientation period and upon mutual agreement.

Expected Outcomes

Financial management and accounting

oEnsure expense invoices are paid promptly, recorded and coded accurately;

oFull cycle general accounting for month-end and year-end closing and produce quarterly and annual financial statements.

Oversee accurate and timely donation processing

oEnsure donations are processed accurately, allocated to the correct funds, and that CRA rules are followed when issuing tax receipts;

oProvide guidance and recommendations to optimize our operational capacity, improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.

Contribute to maintaining good relationships with donors

oMaintain confidentiality and donor privacy;

oProduce relevant and accurate donation acknowledgements and thank you letters in a timely and accurate manner.

Team collaboration and volunteer coordination

oTrain, delegate and supervise work (such as gift processing and data entry) to team members and volunteers as appropriate.

Must-haves

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA, CMA, CGA designation preferred)
  • Familiar with accounting software
  • Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft 365
  • Passion for the mission of the Foundation
  • Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles for not-for-profits and fund accounting
  • Experience with or understanding of CRA guidelines for charities
  • Experience and / or knowledge of QuickBooks, Raiser’s Edge
  • Experience with hospital foundation an asset
