Job summary

Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations and to support a sustainable funding model.

The ideal candidate will bring expert knowledge of financial management, prepare budgets and financial statements, and liaise with funding agencies, auditors, and program managers.

Qualifications

  • BA in Business Administration with accounting focus or pursuing professional designation.
  • Excellent knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, standards, laws and regulations.
  • CPA, CMA, CGA or CAFM designation.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a financial management position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in annual budget preparation with Program Managers.
  • Cash flow management of funding.
  • Approve cheque requisitions and payables.
  • Accounts receivable invoicing and reconciliation.
  • Assist and guide finance staff in preparation for audit, including meetings with auditors.
  • Communicate with funding agencies and related bodies.
  • RBC Express administration.
  • WCB reporting.
  • Prepare cash flows, variance analysis against program budgets, journals.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems as required.
  • Review financial reports and reconciliations; revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
  • Submit Revenue Canada remittance.
  • Conduct grant accounting and reporting for funding compliance.
  • Attend Chief & Council and Finance & Audit Committee meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation is currently seeking to hire a Finance Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge and certifications in financial management to undertake the management of day-to-day finance and accounting operations. Support and maintain the existing financial tools, policies & procedures while creating an efficient and sustainable funding model and financial planning for the future.

Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the PRNFN Program Managers assist in preparation of annual budgets
  • Cashflow Management of funding
  • Approving all cheques requisitions and payables
  • Accounts Receivable Invoicing and Reconciliation
  • Assist and guide finance staff in preparation for Audit, including meet with Auditors
  • Communicate with Funding Agencies, FMB, FNTA, FNFA, ISC, CMHC
  • RBC Express Administration
  • WCB reporting
  • Prepare cashflows, variance analysis against program budgets, general journal entries
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Develop and maintain accounting and general financial systems as required
  • Review financial reports, account & bank reconciliations, revenue & expenditure variance analysis
  • Prepare and submit required Revenue Canada remittance
  • Conduct financial, program and grant accounting and financial reporting, ensuring that the resources are in full compliance with funding agencies
  • Attend Chief & Council meetings, staff meetings, Finance & Audit Committee meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • BA in Business Administration, specializing in accounting or working towards a professional accounting designation/degree in Accounting or Finance or comparable work experience
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping & accounting practices and principles, standards, laws and regulations.
  • CPA, CMA, CGA or CAFM designation
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a financial management position
