Department Overview

TD Securities (TDS) Finance supports the development and achievement of TD Securities financial objectives through providing value-added expertise and guidance, in-depth performance analysis and metrics on business profitability, expense decision support, and strategic advice on business decisions to optimize return on equity (ROE).

The Global Markets (GM) Finance team is responsible for proving a wide range of financial analysis relating to the informational needs of the GM business leaders and senior finance management.

This team plays an important strategic role for TDS, ensuring that the right metrics are developed and communicated to the businesses to make decisions amid the continuously evolving market environment and regulatory requirements.

Overview: The Manager reports into the Associate Vice President, TDS Finance. The role is being newly established as a control role to work with finance stakeholders to ensure general ledger reporting integrity and enhance analysis. The role will also oversee the annual planning process for TDS Global Markets.

This is a highly visible role that requires regular interaction with senior executives within TD Securities, Finance and Risk and therefore a successful candidate must possess a proven track record of building exceptional relationships with business partners. The role offers potential long-term prospects.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Work with stakeholders to understand and review current GL booking practices and enhance processes and controls.
  2. Central point of contact for interaction with other finance groups such as FINOPS, Accounting Policy and Capital Team.
  3. Lead the long-term planning activities of TDS GM including a focused effort in increasing the efficiency of processes using business intelligence tools both for finance and in collaboration with the GM Business (e.g., Trading Analytics).
  4. Train and develop TDS Finance employees.
  5. Act as central point for disseminating and collating commentary requests for GM Finance.
  6. Ad hoc projects and reconciliations.

Core competencies:
  1. Knowledge of GM businesses and Capital Markets products.
  2. Demonstrated relationship building skills, and a strong collaborator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees.
  3. Understanding of accounting processes within Finance Operations supporting GM.
  4. Strong knowledge of Finance and TDS organization, data, processes, technology and tools.

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
  1. Excellent analytical skills in assessing risk, issues and challenging the status quo.
  2. Skillful communication (written and verbal), negotiation and partnership skills to balance stakeholder input but remain objective to reach the right outcome - ability to stay resilient under pressure.
  3. Expertise in working effectively in teams - requires a track record of working cross-organizationally and with multiple stakeholders at varying levels.
  4. Robust organizational skills with the ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  5. Proven ability to work effectively with large data sets - must be skilled at translating a variety of reporting data into management insights.
  6. Knowledge of the Bank's financial reporting systems (e.g. Hyperion, FRS, PSGL), MS Office and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx).

Educational Requirements:
  1. Undergraduate degree required; Post Graduate degree would be an asset.
  2. Professional designation (MBA, CFA, or CPA) would be an asset. CPA preferred.
