What- the Role:
Our client is looking for a new Finance Director, Real Estate who will be with the company for many years. This job is well-suited to someone who enjoys diversity in their day-to-day responsibilities, and who can be both strategic and hands-on. Reporting into the CFO and directly managing 2 Financial Analysts. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking to take ownership of deals, to oversee a range of financing and development activities across a variety of projects, and to contribute their own ideas to an entrepreneurial company in growth mode.
What- the Responsibilities:
This leadership role entails a wide scope of responsibilities, including:
- Lead and manage the finance team across capital sourcing, financing and debt financing, investor communications, and financial reporting.
- Oversee project and corporate cash flow, pro forma accuracy, operations forecasts, capital calls, and loan decisions.
- Produce and review financial materials including investment memos, lender packages, and ad hoc analyses.
- Manage relationships with lenders, brokers, and capital providers; stay informed on financing guidelines and market developments.
- Review and guide financing documents such as letters of intent, commitment letters, partnership agreements, and legal setups.
- Ensure compliance with loan covenants, reporting requirements, and investor documentation; liaise with accounting team.
- Support legal and risk oversight, including insurance, contracts, litigation, and regulatory matters.
- Oversee training, performance reviews, and development of finance team members.
- Represent the brand positively in the Vancouver real estate market, attend industry events, and nurture business relationships with external stakeholders (bankers, lawyers, existing and potential partners, investors, etc.)
Who- the Candidate:

at least 10 years and likely 12+ years relevant and progressive real estate finance experience.
Qualified candidates will be strategic with a big picture mindset, but will still have a high level of attention to detail. The new Finance Director will be committed to achieving the highest standards in the work being done by them and their team, and will be consistently aiming to learn and grow while simultaneously developing those around them.
Strong financial system skills, including sophisticated Excel-based analytical skills, are required.
What- the Qualifications: - Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Urban Land Economics or a related field is required
- CFA (designated or actively pursuing) is preferred.
- A Master’s degree, such as an MBA, is very beneficial
- Experience mentoring at least 1 and ideally 2+ Financial Analysts as direct reports. Experience reporting directly into a CFO and/or Company Founder/Owner/President is preferred.
- Experience preparing and delivering complex financial presentations
- Understanding of real estate fundamentals and valuation principles
- Experience working with proformas and underwriting deals
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including ability to create a sophisticated financial model from scratch
- Adept at quickly learning new software, tools, and technologies
- Open and articulate communication style with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment where multiple tasks and projects are worked on simultaneously
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, looking to thrive in a culture of excellence
Where: Vancouver. The new Finance Director will work full-time in a very beautiful corporate office with an inviting work environment and plenty of space for collaboration and socializing. Located in a vibrant area of Vancouver with plenty of nearby amenities. The company has a performance-based culture that offers flexibility and work/life integration.
How Much:
The company will provide their new Finance Director with a competitive base salary in the range of $150,000 to $190,000, commensurate with real estate experience, finance skills, and relevant qualifications- please note that the high-end is reserved for candidates who have many years of very aligned work experience and meet all requested qualifications.
