Job description

United Way is seeking a dynamic Finance Director to provide strategic leadership in finance, technology, and human resources. This critical role ensures the financial health, operational efficiency, and alignment of resources with the organization's mission while supporting the CEO in achieving strategic objectives.

Duties

  1. Fiscal Management: Oversee an annual operating budget of $4M+, manage financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  2. Financial Reporting: Prepare quarterly financial statements, coordinate audits, track donations, and maintain strong financial controls.
  3. Human Resources: Supervise payroll, employee benefits, and HR compliance; manage recruitment, staff development, and employee files.
  4. Operations Management: Oversee IT systems, office functions, and purchasing activities.

Skills & Qualifications

  1. Proven leadership in finance and operations.
  2. CPA designation or in progress, or a strong interest in obtaining the CPA designation.
  3. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAGE 50 Premium Accounting.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Knowledge of nonprofit financial planning, fund accounting, and Canadian employment law.
  6. Bilingualism is an asset.
