Senior Human Resources Strategic Partner and Consultant
Compensation: $28.00 to 33.00/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, up to 40 hr/week
Proposed Start Date: June 1, 2025 - December 2026 (~18 months)

Supporting researchers with commercial aspirations and enabling students to develop their ideas in our incubator and accelerator programs, while also connecting industry with the technical prowess of McMaster University and other academic institutions. MIP is an integral part of Hamilton’s innovation ecosystem where anyone can find a multitude of resources to help begin their journey.
We are seeking an experienced individual to work with the MIP Finance team on an 18-month contract to provide support with responsibilities outlined below:
Representative Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process and verify invoices for accuracy and proper authorization.
- Ensure timely payment of invoices by scheduling and preparing checks or electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor files and ensure all records are up-to-date.
Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and send out invoices to customers promptly.
- Record payments received and reconcile accounts receivable ledger.
- Follow up on outstanding invoices and manage collections efforts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records.
- Prepare and distribute monthly statements to customers.
- Assist in month-end closing by preparing accounts payable and receivable reports.
- Provide support in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve issues or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and efficiency.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and stored for audit purposes.
Accounting Duties:
- Enter vendor invoices into the SAGE accounting system.
- Follow approval processes for payments, including purchase orders and backup documentation.
- Review invoice coding for accuracy.
- Perform end-of-day AP/AR processes in SAGE.
- Run and sign vendor cheque payments.
- Reconcile credit card and bank statements.
- Manage deferred revenue accounts.
- Provide detailed financial analysis to the Director of Finance.
- Process payments, verify, and reconcile invoices.
- Verify vendor accounts through reconciliation of statements.
- Maintain historical financial records.
- Assist departments with purchases, asset tracking, and project invoicing.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance/CFO.
Education and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or college degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, or 3-5 years’ relevant experience.
- Experience with enterprise financial software, preferably SAGE.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word.
- Experience in office environments, ideally in construction or property management.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Capable of handling high-volume workloads within deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible and open to new challenges.
