Hyatt Place Toronto Mississauga Centre & Luxe Convention Centre is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to lead all financial operations, ensure accuracy and timely reporting, and provide strategic guidance to the General Manager and ownership. The role emphasizes strong internal controls, tax compliance, and cross-functional collaboration within Hyatt’s global hospitality brand.

3–5 years in hospitality finance and CPA or equivalent preferred are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in hospitality.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with hotel PMS/ERP (Opera/Oracle) a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee property accounting and financial reporting: payables, receivables, payroll, GL.
• Prepare monthly/annual financial statements and forecasts in Hyatt standards.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by line of business.
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal tax requirements and returns.
• Maintain robust internal controls across hotel departments and asset safeguarding.
• Provide financial insights to Ownership, GM, and department heads to optimize performance.
• Analyze operating costs to identify efficiency improvements.
• Track debt servicing obligations and lender covenants.
• Coordinate FF&E reserve with Ownership and leadership to preserve capital.
• Consolidate property-level results with corporate accounts.

Your Role

As the Finance Controller, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in reporting and decision-making. You will provide strategic financial guidance to the General Manager while upholding Hyatt's values of accountability, respect, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all property accounting and financial reporting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and forecasts in compliance with Hyatt standards.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes, by line of business, to support business decisions.
• Ensure full compliance with provincial and federal taxation requirements, including preparation and submission of corporate, HST/sales, and Income tax returns, including preparation and submission of corporate, HST, and Income tax returns.
• Maintain robust internal financial controls across all hotel departments, ensuring compliance with policies and safeguarding of assets.
• Provide financial insights to the Ownership, General Manager and department heads to optimize operational performance.
• Analyzing and controlling the hotel's operating costs, identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency.
• Track debt servicing obligations, including loan repayments, interest schedules, and compliance with lender covenants.
• Manage the FF&E reserve in coordination with Ownership and property leadership to preserve capital and enhance returns without undue risk.
• Consolidate property-level financial results with corporate accounts to ensure accurate reporting and alignment with ownership objectives
• Supervise and develop accounting team members, as required, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies as needed.

• Analyzing contracts with suppliers, partners and other external companies on legal aspects and compliance rules
• Ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required by Ownership and/or General Manager
