Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a Finance Co-Op Student in Halifax to help administer day-to-day operations within Financial Advisory Services, including documentation, verification, authorization, and job costing. You will maintain the general ledger through review and reconciliation for accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university program (Commerce, Economics, Business, etc.)
• Well-organized with high energy and effective communication skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment, professional and client-focused
• Able to work independently and in team environments with strong attention to detail
• Will be assessed using written exams, standardized tests, or interviews

Responsibilities

• Audit and analyze expenditures and revenues to ensure proper allocation
• Review contracts, cost share agreements, POs, standing orders and requisitions for proper accounting
• Provide ad hoc analysis reporting as required by management
• Interpret procurement policies and manage AP module to procure goods/services per directives
• Assist with financial analysis on projects including budgets and forecasts
