Job summary

Arlington Partners International, on behalf of a Canadian financial institution, seeks an outstanding FP&A Finance Leader to join Treasury and Projects. The Finance Business Partner will drive strategic planning, financial analysis, and decision support across treasury, liquidity management, and funding activities.

You will partner with the Head of FP&A, oversee capital markets knowledge, project delivery, budgeting, and forecasting, and guide executive decisions with actionable insights.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive financial services, wholesale treasury and capital markets leadership experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Business and a professional finance and/or accounting designation.
  • Expert understanding of capital markets and instruments (derivatives, hedges, market valuation, fixed income).

Responsibilities

  • Lead finance support for Treasury and Projects, providing strategic financial analysis and decision support.
  • Partner with Head of FP&A and Treasury Group to drive budgeting, forecasting and performance management.
  • Contribute to capital planning, liquidity management, and potential corporate initiatives impacting capital structure.

Providing strategies, products and services at scale to financial service providers to support their customers in communities across Canada, the Company is currently in the growth and transformation phase and is seeking an exceptional FP&A finance leader to join their Finance function.

OVERVIEW OF THE FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER - TREASURY AND PROJECTS

Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (the “Head of FP&A”), the Finance Business Partner – Treasury and Projects (the “Finance Business Partner”) plays a pivotal role in driving the achievement of both strategic objectives and day-to-day financial operations for the Treasury and Finance functions of the organization. To ensure organizational agility and focus on providing strong financial and decision support information to its lines of business, the Finance Business Partner leads and provides finance support to the organization’s Treasury Group. Providing senior level finance support to the Treasury Group, the Finance Business Partner is the key relationship liaison with responsibility for a comprehensive understanding of Treasury’s assets, liabilities, and earnings. With outstanding business and finance acumen as well as a strong technical foundation, the Finance Business Partner leverages all financial information available within the Finance team and supports the Treasury business line through financial analysis and business planning, reporting and insights, settlements, accounting (operations and policy implications), budgeting and forecasting. The Finance Business Partner also advocates and supports strategic initiatives and projects that impact the broader Finance team.

With the ability to build relationships with a multitude of key stakeholders, the Finance Business Partner understands the organization’s business drivers and opportunities, is knowledgeable about its product landscape and able to provide valued financial information and insights to guide the business lines’ strategic business decisions up to and including the Executive Leadership Team. With the ability to translate long-term vision to day-to-day accountability, the Finance Business Partner holds responsibility for leading and influencing the successful execution of all finance operations impacting Treasury, participating in corporate initiatives that may impact the organization’s long term capital structure such as potential mergers, strategic acquisitions or divestitures. Developing trusted business partnering relationships throughout the organization and leveraging those relationships when required to successfully drive initiatives forward, the Finance Business Partner continuously drives change and transformation throughout the Finance function and successfully executes projects from ideation to implementation.

A client-centric FP&A leader with 10+ years of progressive financial services, wholesale treasury and capital markets leadership experience, the Finance Business Partner has substantial knowledge of the financial services landscape and has a combination of financial institution treasury experience, market risk, interest rate risk management, liquidity management, and funds transfer pricing (“FTP”). Additionally, knowledge of project management methodologies, analysis skills as well as complex financial structure analytical skills are all valuable assets. With an undergraduate degree in Finance or Business and a professional finance and/or accounting designation, the Finance Business Partner has an expert understanding of capital markets and instruments (derivatives, hedges, market valuation, fixed income, etc.), accounting/financial reporting and performance management, as well as knowledge of accounting best practices.
