Description : About us :

Home to over 40 departments and institutes, the University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine is a leader in research and education, spanning clinical medicine, basic science, and rehabilitation sciences.

Your opportunity :

The Office of the Vice Dean oversees research for the faculty and collaborates with hospital research institutes for clinical research, including grant development, funding administration, and research metrics reporting.

As Financial Administrator, you will manage financial administration for research grants and operational accounts, coordinate payroll for trainees and research staff, monitor transactions, and maintain records. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will be vital.

Your responsibilities will include :

  1. Processing financial and payroll transactions such as AP / AR, reimbursements, journal entries, etc.
  2. Interpreting and communicating financial guidelines, ensuring compliance with university and grant agency policies.
  3. Tracking research accounts and preparing progress reports for funders.
  4. Investigating discrepancies and advising on funding utilization.
  5. Reviewing payroll reports and reconciling financial statements.

Essential Qualifications :

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in accounting/business or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of related experience, preferably in a university setting.
  • Experience with financial and payroll transactions, reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial and research guidelines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and SAP systems (FIS, HRIS, RIS) or similar.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Initiative, resourcefulness, and good judgment in dealing with stakeholders.
