Job description

We are working with a nationally recognized company, headquartered in downtown Toronto, with subsidiaries in Vancouver and Montreal. Our client is seeking a proactive Finance & Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations and contribute to the financial health of their growing business.

Key Responsibilities

As the Finance & Accounting Manager, you will :

  • Oversee the accounting team to ensure accurate bookkeeping, banking, and compliance across all entities
  • Manage daily cash flow, line of credit usage, and short-term investments; liaise with bank representatives for annual reviews
  • Process semi-monthly and monthly payroll, including vacation and statutory holiday pay
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements and forecasts, including insightful analysis for management
  • Monitor headcount changes and adjust cost allocation ratios accordingly
  • Handle intra-company and inter-company transactions
  • Review and approve commission payments, ensuring accurate tracking of structural changes
  • Engage with clients for past due invoice collection
  • Coordinate year-end closings with external accountants; manage CIT installment payments, dividends, and bonuses as per board directives
  • Ensure compliance with provincial health and safety obligations (EHT, WSIB, CNESST, WCB, etc.)
  • Supervise and process GST / HST / QST filings and remittances
  • Support, mentor, and develop accounting team members, fostering a positive and productive environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting-related matters efficiently
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and perform analyses to support business decisions

Ideal Candidate Profile

You will bring :

  • A university degree in accounting and a CPA designation
  • At least 5 years of experience in an accounting management role within a Canadian organization
  • A positive, solutions-driven mindset with adaptability to learn new systems and processes
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities under pressure
  • Excellent multitasking skills with a focus on maintaining accuracy
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong financial presentation skills
  • Experience in M&A (preferred)
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Pro Desktop (an asset)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (an asset)
