Role & Responsibilities

The Filmmaker & Video Editor at Dreww combines on-set production with post-production expertise, handling the entire process of producing short-form vertical videos for large consumer brands designed specifically for social media. You will participate in pre-production by leading shot list creation and assisting with scheduling. On set, you will execute technical aspects such as operating cameras (primarily iPhone 15 Pro Max, Sony FX3, and FX6), setting up lighting, and managing audio. In post-production, you’ll use Adobe Premiere to edit videos, incorporating motion graphics, sound design, and color correction to optimize content for platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. With a strong understanding of social media trends, you’ll create platform-native, engaging content ready for publication on the accounts of Canada’s biggest brands, reaching millions of viewers.

As a Filmmaker & Video Editor, you will be responsible for supporting the video production process in the following ways :

  • Create shot lists, assist in planning and schedule creation.
  • Operate cameras (iPhone 15 Pro Max, Sony FX3, and FX6), set up lighting, and manage audio equipment.
  • Review and assemble the best takes and create a preliminary cut.
  • Add music and sound effects. Adjust levels and eliminate noise.
  • Design and implement graphic packaging and style guides.
  • Adjust color, exposure, and saturation to ensure preferred style.
  • Generate subtitles, provide SRT files to social media specialists for corrections, and implement final SRT files into the timeline.
  • Design thumbnails for each video in accordance with the defined style.
  • Prepare and export final files in the requested sizes and formats.
  • Create and maintain client / project folders on the NAS, organize files, and archive completed projects and their source elements.
  • Review KPIs and video performance with the team to drive editing decisions for future videos.

Skills and Experience :

  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Degree in filmmaking or a technical diploma in post-production (an asset).
  • 5+ years of experience as a filmmaker and editor.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of projects, particularly short-form videos for social media.
  • Extensive experience shooting with iPhone, Sony FX3, and Sony FX6.
  • Extensive experience lighting scenes and using audio equipment.
  • Proficiency in Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Photoshop.
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms and trends in content creation.
  • Highly creative with a talent for generating innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Strong understanding and enthusiasm for the Creator Economy.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
