GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Field Technician / Technologist to join our team. We currently have an opening for a Field Technician / Technologist in our Barrie office.

The successful candidate will have the following:

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• Working towards a College Level Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience with materials testing and inspection.
• Experience with computer-assisted drafting (CAD) and surveying is considered an asset.
• Experience in civil construction is considered an asset.

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in:

• Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• Compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates, and asphalt.
• Subgrade and foundation inspections.
• Supervising a drill rig.
• Assisting in Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments.
• Supporting field investigations, including supervision of borehole drilling, monitoring well installation, test pit investigation, and surface water and groundwater sampling.
• Compilation, tabulation, and interpretation of field and analytical results.
• Field testing and sampling of soil, sediment, water, and air.
• Various office and field tasks related to materials testing.
• Other duties as required.

Position Details:

• Contract position.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
