The Opportunity :

We are seeking a skilled Field Technician & Submetering Analyst to join our growing Customer Assist team! In this role, you will support metering operations by coordinating site activities, managing and verifying automated meter reads, collecting meter data in the field and remotely, and ensuring billing accuracy. You will troubleshoot communication hardware/software, resolve equipment issues, and perform manual data collection as needed. Collaboration with vendors, project managers, and internal teams is essential to ensure timely meter reads, system performance, and compliance with regulatory standards.

What You’ll Be Doing :

  1. Work with contractors to set up, test, and verify automated meter reading system installations both in the field and remotely.
  2. Collect field meter reads.
  3. Maintain and troubleshoot onsite communication hardware.
  4. Validate metering data for billing accuracy.
  5. Perform manual data collection when required.
  6. Configure new installations as needed.
  7. Manage stale or defective meters by identifying, reporting, troubleshooting, and rectifying issues before billing.
  8. Collaborate remotely with vendors and project managers to resolve onsite issues.
  9. Collect, analyze, and investigate missing or failed meter data.
  10. Escalate and resolve read failures, coordinating with vendors if necessary.
  11. Maintain issue tracking documentation and update stakeholders.
  12. Validate FTP file transfers regularly.
  13. Ensure compliance with regulatory SLAs.
  14. Navigate third-party software applications.
  15. Analyze data trends and patterns in complex datasets.
  16. Optimize billing, read capture, and operational processes.
  17. Participate in weekly meetings with clients and vendors.
  18. Support data sync operations and escalate customer-impacting issues.

  • 2+ years in statistics/data analysis
  • Knowledge of MDM (asset)
  • Knowledge of communication hardware (advanced)
  • Experience with data collection software (advanced)
  • Intermediate understanding of the utility industry
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server
  • Proficiency in MS Office (advanced)
