Responsibilities

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Field Technician keeps our heavy equipment fleet running safely and efficiently. You’ll focus on daily service tasks—fueling, greasing, pre trip inspections, and visual walk arounds—while moving machines on site and pitching in wherever operations need an extra set of hands. Your vigilance and care help prevent downtime, protect people, and keep production on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Service & Lubrication

  • Refuel, grease, and top up fluids for haul trucks, dozers, excavators, and support equipment according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Track consumption and report any abnormal fluid use or leaks.

Pre Trip & Safety Inspections

  • Perform thorough daily checks: tires/undercarriage, hoses, belts, lights, safety systems, and housekeeping.
  • Log defects immediately and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance.

Equipment Relocation

  • Safely start, warm up, shut down, and reposition heavy equipment within the work zone under direction of supervisor.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain accurate fuel/lube logs, inspection sheets, and service tags.
  • Immediately escalate safety or mechanical concerns to the Supervisor and Maintenance Planner.
You Possess
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and reliable transportation required.
  • Previous experience working in civil construction, mining, or heavy earthworks environments.
  • Experience servicing or operating heavy equipment in mining, civil, or industrial settings.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mobile equipment systems.
  • Valid Class5 (or higher) driver’s licence; competent to operate light vehicles and UTVs on site.
  • Comfortable working 12 hour shifts in remote, all weather conditions.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and a team first attitude.CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, or Ground Disturbance tickets are assets.
  • Ability to work rotational shifts (e.g., 12-hour days, 7-on/7-off) in a remote or mine site environment.
  • Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Accountable and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind).
  • Experience working with computers is an asset.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing.

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Typical rotation: 7days on / 7days off (12 hour shifts: days and nights).
  • Outdoor work on uneven terrain with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy traffic.
