Compucom Systems, Inc. provides end-to-end IT managed services to enable the digital workplace for enterprise, midsize and small businesses. We employ a customer-centric, dedicated team that Act Like an Owner, Do the Right Thing, and Have Fun Doing It! We’re seeking a bilingual (English & French) Field Technician for our Ottawa location. Eligibility for a Top Secret government security investigation is required.

As a Field Technician II , you will support and maintain laptops, desktops, and printers for end users and clients. A valid passport, driver’s license, and vehicle are necessary. This role reports to the Field Services Manager.

Responsibilities :

  • Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Document, upgrade, or replace hardware and software systems.
  • Manage user account information, including rights, security, and system groups.
  • Identify, analyze, and repair product failures; order and replace parts as needed.
  • Use experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals.
  • Perform various complex tasks under general supervision, requiring creativity and autonomy.

Basic Tasks :

  • Desk-side software support.
  • High-end printer and multi-function laser component repair.
  • Server hardware repair and software restoration.
  • Network device replacement and configuration.
  • Basic network troubleshooting.

Qualifications :

  • Relevant experience in the field or related area; familiar with industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage calls in a real-time reporting environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Certifications :

  • Required : CompTIA A+
  • Nice to Have : HP / Dell / Lenovo desktops / laptops, Lexmark / Xerox / HP multifunction devices, server certifications from IBM, HP, Dell, CompTIA Network+, and Server+.

This position requires bilingual French / English proficiency and eligibility for a Top Secret security investigation. Located in Ottawa, the role involves supporting and maintaining client hardware, with travel requirements including a valid passport, driver’s license, and vehicle.
