Position Overview :

The Field Service Technician (NOC 22311 – Electronic Service Technician) will be responsible for installing, relocating, repairing, and maintaining digital Photo Enforcement solutions for municipal Public Safety programs. The technician must ensure equipment maintains high standards of uptime and performance. Responsibilities include troubleshooting issues, responding to time-sensitive requests, and working independently or under supervision to resolve system performance issues related to equipment, radar, cameras, vandalism, environmental factors, or deficiencies. This is a full-time position with no fixed term.

Approximately 90% of work is outdoors or involves driving. The role may include periodic on-call work outside normal hours, occasional travel, and overtime or night work.

Location Information :

The work location for this position is in Toronto, Ontario, and surrounding areas.

Job Duties :

  • Install, maintain, and repair electronic equipment.
  • Inspect and test electronic components using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other tools.
  • Perform daily checks of enforcement systems, including downloads, battery health, and image quality.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance reports.
  • Perform video surveys for new business development.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance and adapt procedures as technology evolves.
  • Support installation of new systems on construction sites or relocations.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Work Environment :

Technicians work outdoors in various weather conditions, near traffic, and sometimes at heights. The role involves working alone, with safety practices, and may require night, weekend, and overtime work.

Qualifications :

The preferred candidate has a two-to-three-year college diploma in electronics, engineering, or computer science, or 3+ years of related experience. Experience in digital photography, network installation, and computer technology is required. The ability to work outdoors with minimal supervision, strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a valid driver’s license are essential.

Physical Requirements :

Responsibilities include long periods of standing, physical labor, handling equipment up to 75 pounds, climbing ladders, and working at heights. Good vision and driving ability are necessary.
