Job summary

Sandvik Mining in Kirkland Lake, Ontario seeks a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic for underground field service. The role covers troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, plus commissioning and training at customer sites.

You should hold a Red Seal, have at least 3 years' mining equipment experience, strong schematic reading, and willingness to travel across Canada. Attractive benefits include pension, health coverage, and a company vehicle.

  • 3+ years mining equipment experience preferred.
  • Proficient in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical/electrical systems on surface mining equipment.
  • Inspect equipment, diagnose faults and replace defective parts.
  • Commission new equipment and train at customer sites.
  • Prepare technical reports and parts lists.
  • Maintain tools, work area, and safety compliance.

So now we challenge you to take it one step further and apply!What you will be doingInspecting equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.Adjusting equipment & repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.Commissioning new equipment.Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.Other duties as assigned by the Manager.Environmental Health and SafetyComplies with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses.
